Who Are We?

Fred Klarer, J.D.: I was a Long Island contested divorce and Long Island divorce mediation attorney for 15 years, and corporate and business transactional lawer in New York City for ten years prior to that. I am a former Buddhist monk, and a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. I also am trained in the Extraordinary Self Coaching Program and am a Master Practitioner of NLP. I have lived on Long Island for twenty years. I no longer practice law and have focused now solely on Long Island divorce mediation — mediation for divorce. I seek to solve problems, not to cause them. Helping my clients avoid the Long Island divorce lawyers is one of my aims.

It is my goal to offer people faced with divorce here on Long Island a way out of the suffering and pain that is caused by the pointless fight over the inevitable. Let me help you create a future here on Long Island and get on with your life through divorce mediation .

We offer a free consultation, which gives you an opportunity to assess whether mediation is the right process for you and whether I am the right mediator; it gives me an opportunity to assess whether you are good candidates for divorce mediation.

Most couples can complete a divorce mediation in 2 or 3 sessions. Sessions are 90 minutes and cost $450 per session.

Once all the decisions have been made we prepare for you an agreement that sets forth all the decisions you have come to. The cost for that is $1,250, which includes preparing the agreement, reviewing it with you, and making final edits and changes.

We do not offer legal advice or services. Once the agreement is complete we will give you a list of Long Island divorce attorneys who have agreed to a fixed fee of $1,250 to review the agreement with you, prepare the final divorce papers, and file the divorce with the Long Island divorce Court. You are, of course, free to use your own divorce attorney. We have no financial interest in the referral; it is merely to offer the convenience to you.

I have never had a divorce mediation, where the parties have had to appear in Court.

Directions: Take Exit 40N from the Northern State Parkway, or Exit 49N from the LIE, and take Route 110 north into Huntington Village. On Main St., take a left (west) and go three blocks to Prospect. St. Take a left on Prospect St. and go two blocks, to the end. You will see a large sign saying “75 Prospect St” on the right. Park in the rear parking lot and go in the entrance with the wrought iron railings on the larger building. We are immediately to the right, off the waiting room.
